Founding Story
15 years ago I was living down in Victoria, Australia, owner of a successful bar/entertainment venue and we’d just purchased another one. I basically had the world at my feet, and ambitious plans for the future. Plans that I felt would make a difference in the world.
However there were underlying confidence and belief issues which held me back and stopped me from really going for my dreams. I instead sabotaged everything I’d worked for and the depression and anxiety which had always lingered below the surface pulled me down.
The anxiety, that until then had showed up only as a fear of public speaking, spiralled down to the point where panic attacks were making it a battle to leave the house.
In 2007 I sold my businesses and headed for the sun in Queensland to sort myself out, get to the bottom of what happened, and rebuild myself. I got super curious on the ways to do that, leaving no stone unturned and trying just about everything that I came across.
I did 3 years of a Bachelor of Health Science to learn about the body, and course after course after course to learn about the human mind, qualifying me as a Master Practitioner of NLP, Hypnosis and Life Coaching, among other things.
I began to use what I’d learnt to help other people, and discovered that anxiety plays out completely differently for differently people. For example, while speaking in front of a room of people was my idea of torture, I realised that for some people that was where they were most comfortable. Their anxiety may be in a totally different context like being intimate, walking outdoors, or driving a car over a bridge.
As I continued to learn and work with clients, I began to see the issues very structurally – one thing leads to another. Being a structural, systematic thinker has allowed me to develop a system toward constant improvement, a program to take you from where you are to where you want to be.
I don’t claim to have a magic pill that will fix this over night. Our solution is a well mapped out process, whereby you’re able to see the path in front of you – so things aren’t so scary and confusing anymore – and then you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And we support you all the way along that path.
I continue to learn and have a seemingly insatiable thirst to find what truly works in this field, as well as an obsession in finding the best ways to achieve goals and maximise human potential in general. I’m constantly seeking to raise my own standards and looking for ways to improve, whilst finding the best ways for others to do the same. I look forward to continuing to bring that information to you via World Class Friend.
