We’re talking anxiety and today I’m going to introduce you to what’s called the results chain. And it’s called that because it’s the chain of events that ultimately lead to the results or outcomes that we get in life, whether that be positive or negative.
Now this is one the most important concepts you’ll ever need to grasp because these results over time give us the life that we’re living. Our life is a combination of these results chains. So when you learn to take charge of them you can get completely different results in life. And that’s what we’re going to learn to do.
I’m going to give you tools to intervene in every link of this chain so you can turn it around to a result that you want.
1. We start with a stimulus or event – we take in some information through our 5 senses, typically we might see something or someone may say something to us.
2. This triggers a belief in us, a belief we have about ourselves or the world, and chemicals are released to prepare us for our response to what’s happening. You may feel this in your body.
3. We then interpret what’s happened, we give it meaning. For most of us this usually happens unconsciously, we don’t even know we’re doing it.
4. This meaning determines what further chemicals are released in our body to put us into a certain emotional state.
5. This emotional state leads to our behaviour or actions.
6. And it’s our behaviour or actions which lead to our result.
